Florida (4-6) showed some grit and led No. 11 South Carolina into the fourth quarter, but ultimately could not pull off the upset, falling 19-14 in Columbia. Freshman running back Kelvin Taylor scored a pair of touchdowns and racked up 96 rushing yards, to go along with a 15-yd. reception, for the Gators. The defense, meanwhile, kept Conor Shaw to 14-of-28 passing for 213 yards while Mike Davis managed just 54 yards on the ground.FCS Georgia Southern (6-4) closes its regular season on Saturday after thrashing SOCON rival Elon, 38-20, on the road last weekend. After falling behind 6-0 on a pair of first-quarter field goals, the Eagles scored 31 unanswered points, the last on a 14-yd. run by quarterback Kevin Ellison. Though Ellison completed just 5-of-11 passes for 104 yards, the redshirt freshman rushed the ball 14 times for 163 yards and two scores.
The Gators and Eagles have met twice before, with UF winning handily ten years apart in Gainesville. Florida opened the series with a 38-14 win during the 1986 season and then whipped up on Georgia Southern, 62-14, in the second game of the 1996 National Championship season.Look forward to seeing everyone out this weekend
