After a road loss at Missouri on Tuesday night, the Florida Gators will look to give head coach Billy Donovan career win No. 500 on Saturday evening when they host Tennessee at the O’Connell Center. Tip-off between the Gators and Vols is scheduled for 6:00 p.m. with coverage of the game airing on ESPN 2. In our own search for a new viewing location, the Baltimore Gator Club will host a watch party at the Lighthouse Tavern (address below) in Canton on Saturday evening! Despite 14 points from freshman Devin Robinson, Florida (13-15, 6-9 SEC) dropped its second consecutive game, falling at Mizzou, 64-52, Tuesday evening in the Show Me State. After leading by seven in the second half, the Gators went over seven minutes without a field goal as the Tigers rallied behind the home support.
The Gators are 9-5 in front of the Rowdy Reptiles at the O’Dome this season, with their last win coming at home against Vanderbilt on Feb. 18.
Tennessee (14-13, 6-9 SEC) lost on Thursday night at home to Vanderbilt, 73-65, to run its current losing skid to four straight games. Guard Josh Robinson led UT with 20 points in the losing effort, but the Vols shot 37.3% for the game, compared to 57.5% shooting for the Commodores. Derek Reese was also in double figures for Tennessee, scoring 13 points.
UF defeated Tennessee three times last year, including a 67-41 rout at the O’Dome. Michael Frazier II scored a game-high 17 points in the contest, shooting 5-of-8 from the floor and 3-of-6 from behind the arc in the victory.
