After a successful road trip to the Blue Grass State, the No. 18 Florida Gators (3-1, 2-0 SEC) return home to host the Arkansas Razorbacks (3-2, 0-1 SEC) Saturday night at the Swamp. Kick-off is set for 7:00 p.m. and the Charm City Gators will be meeting at both Porters of Federal Hill and the Stained Glass Pub in Elkridge for viewing parties.
Making his first career start after replacing Jeff Driskel in the Gators’ win over Tennessee, Tyler Murphy completed 15 of 18 passes, including each of his first 14, leading Florida to its 27th straight win over Kentucky, 24-7. The junior quarterback threw for a touchdown and also scored a running TD while running back Matt Jones gained a career-high 176 yards on the ground in the win.
Even without DT Dominique Easley, the Gator defense dominated the Wildcats, yielding just 173 total yards with UK’s only score coming on a fake field goal in the first quarter.
Arkansas travels to Gainesville on the heels of a 45-33 loss to Texas A&M at home in Fayetteville. QB Brandon Allen threw for 282 yards and three TDs, but the Razorbacks’ D could not stop last year’s Heisman Trophy winner Johnny Manziel and the Aggie offense which gained 523 total yards.
Under first-year head coach Brett Bielema, Arkansas won its first three games of the season, defeating Louisiana, Samford, and Southern Mississippi, but then lost at Rutgers prior to last week’s loss to TAMU.
