The Baltimore Gators will host a viewing party at Porter’s of Federal Hill on Tuesday, Feb. 12 to watch the No. 7-ranked Florida Gators basketball team take on SEC rival and No.-25 ranked Kentucky in a matchup of the top two teams in the conference. Tip-off at the O’Dome is set for 7 p.m., so come out and watch with some fellow Gators as the Orange and Blue looks to knock off the Wildcats for the first time in two years.
Florida and Kentucky met three times last season, including in the SEC Championship game, with the eventual National Champion Wildcats taking all three victories.
This season is a different story, however, as the Gators have brought back most of their firepower to race out to a 19-3 mark overall with a league-leading 9-1 record in SEC play. Florida leads the conference this season and bounced back from its first loss in nearly a month to drub Mississippi State on Saturday, 83-58. Five Gators were in double figures against the Bulldogs, led by Mike Rosario’s game-high 18 points.
Meanwhile, the Wildcats lost pretty much everything from last year’s team to the NBA, but have recovered from a slow start for a 17-6 record and 8-2 SEC mark. Kentucky downed Auburn, 72-62, to setup the pivotal matchup. Another crop of talented youngsters pace Big Blue with freshman Archie Griffin leading a cast of five Wildcats averaging double digits in scoring.
The game will be broadcast live on ESPN with the broadcast beginning at 7 p.m.
